  • Are you tired of hyped-up business "opportunities?"

  • Would you like to run your own home business?

  • Is an average profit margin of 350% acceptable?

  • Does running a legitimate business through known and respectable marketplaces like Amazon.com, Half.com, Alibris.com, Abebooks.com and/or ebay.com appeal to you?

  • How would you like to start a business with minimal investment, minimal risk, and maximum profit?

Unlike some other "opportunities" out there, I am not going to hype this business by advertising that you can make $100,000 per year selling books online.  This is doable, but not feasible or likely unless you pursue it full-time and spend several months building up a substantial inventory.  A realistic expectation would be $2,000 to $5,000 per month on a part-time basis and $5,000 to $7,500 on a full-time basis if you have adequate access to replenish and stock your inventory.

My name is Mike Mould and I am the author of the book "Online Bookselling: A Practical Guide with Detailed Explanations and Insightful Tips," I appreciate you visiting my website and I encourage you to browse around and read all you like about the business of online bookselling.

I have been selling new & used books online for over five years now, and I can honestly say that it is as fun today as the day I started.

Before getting into the online bookselling business, I spent considerable time looking for a legitimate home-based business, so I know about all the hype associated with most online business "opportunities."  I have seen offers for pill pushing, lotion promotion, dream creams, gadget gizmos, copy writing cons, affiliate networking, fad diet programs, pyramid schemes, and other scams that I am sure you have seen too.

When I got down to analyzing these offers - and I am an engineer by profession so data torture is something I know a little about - I considered that if all the miracle diet pills that were sold actually worked, more people would take them and we would not be faced with the overweight population scenario now so prevalent in the U.S.  The same goes for the exercise gadgets.  Every time I turn on the TV I find someone advertising "the most incredible scientific breakthrough in exercise equipment."  Hogwash, if it really worked as advertised, everyone would buy it and it would not be for sale at my neighbor's garage sale this weekend.  If there was really a facial cream that reversed the aging effects, I think all the other facial cream manufacturers would go out of business overnight because the women of America would all be buying the one that turned them into infants again.  I could go on and on, but the plain and simple truth is that almost all business "opportunities" offered on the Internet will not make anyone a dime except the person selling the opportunity.

That is precisely why I turned to online bookselling.  I didn't have to shell out six months worth of my income to buy the "opportunity" from someone. I could start doing it for only a couple hundred dollars, I could get access to the biggest marketplace for selling books in the world free, the risk was minimal, the profits were great, I could scale it to whatever size I wanted at my own pace, I could invest my time according to the results I wanted to achieve, I could spend time around books and other people that like books, and until I sold a book it was part of my own personal collection.

So, why would I want to write a book about how to sell books online and create more competition for myself.  There are several reasons:

It is just one more book in my inventory to sell.

A bookseller that jumps into online bookselling without a good understanding of the business is not only likely to fail, they are likely to create a bad experience for buyers, thus giving the business a bad name.  It is not hard to be a successful online bookseller, but it is easier if you have a guide.  I would rather provide a quality book on the subject and compete with several legitimate booksellers than have the industry be given a bad name owing to wanna-bes.

I know that despite how well I describe the business, and/or how easy it is to be successful, only a small percentage of the people that buy my book are even going to try it, and an even smaller number will ever be any real competition for me.

With the millions of book titles that have been published, the probability of me competing against you for the sale of a book is improbable except for the most common of titles.

I had read almost all the other books about the online bookselling business and felt there was plentiful room for a quality book that went beyond what any of the others offered.  Don't get me wrong, there are some other good books on this subject, I own them and have read them.  As such, I can easily state that my book covers much more than any other book available.

This is the most comprehensive guide available about online bookselling, it will help you learn how to sell used books from home and start a business selling used books online - read the customer testimonials.  It will explain all about the online bookselling marketplaces, online postage services, wireless lookup services, where to buy books worth reselling, how to price and grade books, how much to pay for books, the legal structure of online bookselling businesses, online bookselling business planning, where to find wholesale book dealers, where to find remainder book dealers, how to pack books for shipment, and everything else you need to know to be a successful online bookseller.  It really isn't all that hard to sell books online, but having the right tools and going about it the right way will make the difference between being successful and being frustrated, this book will definitely teach you how to sell books online successfully.

It doesn't matter if you are a beginner or an experienced online bookseller, the entire business scenario is covered and there is a lot of useful information for all.  One of my customers has 2,500,000 books listed online and has been doing this longer than me, and even he found some useful information in this book.

I did not skim over topics and just provide a bunch of lists, I went into detail and explained each topic.  The book is 228 pages, it is printed in Times New Roman 9 point font, i.e., it is not printed in a kindergarten reader font to occupy space and make it look bigger than it is, I included graphs, charts, and pictures to help explain concepts, and even shared some personal experiences to emphasize some points.  To date, I have not had a single customer complain that the book lacked information or failed to meet their expectations.  I even blog regularly to keep my customers informed, and I host a free online forum for my customers to help keep them abreast of the business changes taking place and to allow them to exchange ideas, tips, stories, etc.  This allows me to provide them with valuable and time sensitive information without having to post it on my website.  Access to this forum is restricted to customers of my book and some of my third-party product/service partners that are able to give some very helpful insight into online bookselling.

If you have any questions or concerns, please send me an email.  I generally respond to all emails within a couple hours.  Click Here to send me an email, or visit my Contact Us page for more information.
