I made the first posting to the "customer only" message board just over a year ago now (October 1, 2006) and here are some of the noteworthy things that have happened in the past year.
Our customer only forum (message board) now has over 400 members.
There are over 530 different topic threads
We have over 4,800 postings made by various members - including me
I have been extremely pleased with how this message board has worked out. I have never received a single complaint from any member about the postings or replies of other members. Everyone has been very respectful of one another and I do not think a single member has felt intimidated by other members.
I have been particularly pleased with the wealth of knowledge that is being shared by other booksellers. I have seen many tips and suggestions shared that have far surpassed my expectations for such a forum. I have even seen new sellers share ideas that never occurred to me before.
While the number of customers of my book far outnumber the number of members in the forum, I think the concept has come a long way and I want to thank everyone that has participated and helped other members with making their businesses a success. We even have the author of a better ranked book about online bookselling as a member, and while he is not an active participant, I consider it a compliment that he chose to purchase my book and check out our forum.
Anyway, if you are a past customer and would like to join, I still have you in my database and will approve your registration when I see that you have completed it. If you are still on the fence and have not decided yet whether or not to give online bookselling a try, I do not want to pressure you into buying my book, but if you do opt to give the business a try, I encourage you to consider the value of being allowed into our customer only message board and what the experiences, tips, suggestions, and interactions with over 400 other customers is worth.
I feel I still have the best book available with respect to online bookselling and with the paperback copy I also provide "Bookkeeping for Booksellers." This is worth more than what I am selling it for (according to several customer posts in the forum), and you get access to the forum on top of that. I am not really trying to make a commercial out of this blog post, I am just really pleased with the forum participation and I too have learned quite a bit more about online bookselling from other participants.
