I have been asked by many
people, "Why would you recommend books by other authors that are
competing with you for sales?
Personally, I do not see
these other books as competition and I see the following as good reasons
for recommending their books:
1) We do
not all write about the same things and the things that are covered in
all of our books are covered from different perspectives.
2) I
think customers are capable of reading about each and making up their
own mind which is best for them and their situation.
3) I did
not publish a book about online bookselling to get rich, I did it to
help other people wanting to start a home-based business to gain a
little more financial freedom.
If you opt to buy one of
these other books instead of mine, it is okay with me. I just want to
make sure you know your options.

From One Author to Another - Great Job Steve!,
March 25, 2006
As the author of another book on the same subject, I
purchased Steve's book about a week before mine went into
publication and found it to be very well written and all
encompassing of the online bookselling fundamentals. Great
job Steve!
I have been an online bookseller myself for almost five
years, and I have read several books written about it, few
include as much as this one and I would encourage anyone
contemplating getting into the business to buy Steve's
book.
Anyone reading this review might be wondering why I would
want to promote Steve's book when I am trying to sell my
own. The answer is simple, Steve's book is very good and I
am sure there is a large enough market to go around,
besides I don't really look at our books as being
competitors, I think they are very complimentary of each
other. We do not cover all the same things and the things
we do both cover are for the most part approached from
different perspectives.
I know the history of Amazon.com and the tendency of one
author to trash the work of another when the books might
be viewed as competitors, but I would not stoop to that
level. I know a good book when I see it, and Steve has put
together a well-organized and complete book about online
bookselling. I learned a few things from his book myself
as I am sure he would admit to learning from mine if he
has read it.
I wish you the best with your sales Steve and success to
those that buy your book. |

This Book Was One of the Pioneers on the Subject - But
Still Has Many Useful Ideas, March 25, 2006
Stephen's book is one of the pioneer books on this subject,
but still has many applicable tools and tips. I purchased my
copy about a week before my book went into publication, but
did not get a chance to read it until recently. The number of
similar topics covered was a surprise. The content and ideas
in this book are applicable to many things besides online
bookselling. I am happy and encouraged to see that the sales
of this book are still brisk and while some parts of it are
dated in this fast changing business, even the dated ones
still have value to someone getting into the online
bookselling business.
This book is a very good reference for even the experienced
online bookseller with ideas ranging from the efficient use of
time to how to get more books quickly and cheap by using
advertising.
I wish you the best in the sales of your book Stephen and
success to all that buy it. |
